About Llano

With the abundance of wild flowers in the spring, nearby lakes and the beautiful Llano River visitors and residents alike are offered an exciting variety of recreational opportunities.

Rich in history and natural beauty you will find Llano to be the perfect get-away from today’s hectic lifestyle.

The Llano Basin has the highest density of deer in the United States; and Llano County, where deer are exceptionally plentiful, is considered by many hunters the Deer Hunting Capital of Texas. This area is also one of the best in the state for bow hunting. Hunters can enjoy the opportunity of bagging other game such as dove, turkey and quail. Also located in Llano County are several exotic game ranches which attract hunters from across the nation. You may obtain a lease list by contacting the Chamber of Commerce.

Located primarily in Llano County, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is 22 miles south of Llano on Ranch Road 965. The Rock boasts 40 percent of the best climbs in the state. The diversity of its surface provides some exceptionally challenging face climbs and numerous crack climbs. Opened year–round, the park has 46 tent sites with tent–pads, picnic tables, overhead shelters, barbecue pits, and fire rings. An attractive playground and modern restroom facilities, complete with solar–heated showers, are available to campers.
